Thom Filicia Stealthily Goes Green

You don't have to sacrifice style to be kinder to the environment, and a model condominium designed by Thom Filicia is a perfect example of this. He uses green materials, fabrics and finishes throughout this comfortably appointed home, but you wouldn't know it unless he told you.

I love the beautiful dresser by Aponwao Design he used, which is made out of salvaged picture frames!

Read more (and see the beautiful dresser) here.

Farrow & Ball Go Green

I love Farrow & Ball paint! Their color palette is amazing and the colors are so saturated that even a simple cream seems to give depth and texture to the wall. They recently introduced zero VOC paints to their collection, which you can read about here - A Greener View from Farrow & Ball .

If you are unfamiliar with their colors and product line, you can orRead More...

Time to Sparkle for the Holidays

It’s that time of year again. Holiday time. What does this mean? Lots of entertaining. You may find yourself looking around the house and seeing things in a new light - the pile of magazines that have been sitting by the front door for ages, the marks on the wall from where the cat likes to scratch, the tired looking throw pillows on the sofa. To get your house company ready, I recommend a program of de-cluttering, cleaning and redecorating – all withouRead More...

EcoGen Bath Accessories

I'm working on a longer blog post, but I saw these in the new CB2 catalog and thought they were interesting! They're made of a new material that is biodegradable, plus they're clean and modern looking.

EcoGen Bath Accessories
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387037942147834338" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 200px" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OkNpLywEnc0/SsKad3VF4eI/AAAAAAAAAf8Read More...

The Eco-Friendly Style of Mad Men

It may seem jarring to see the term “eco-friendly” in the same sentence as “Mad Men,” a television show that depicts the period of shameless wastefulness of the early 1960s. Gas guzzling cars, polyester and littering have all been featured on this show, but don’t worry, I’m not as good as Don Draper and am not about toRead More...

Green Gardens

If you think the best way to have a green garden is with a huge expanse of lawn, you’re like most people. Lawns are a part of our culture, and are a ubiquitous feature of front yard landscaping. Unfortunately, they also need a lot of water to maintain their lush good looks, and water is a precious commodity in sunny California.

So, how can you maintain your yard’s good looks without that gorgeous lawn? The answer is simple – get Read More...

Something Old...

Somewhere in the midst of addressing my sister's wedding invitations, perusing the online registry of friends at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and bidding on a vintage bridesmaid dress on eBay, I came upon a great idea for engaged couples to go green! What if, instead of picking out the pattern du jour at a department or box store, couples picked out wonderful, vintage household items to fill their cupboards?

<img src="http://furnicology.com/images/0/something_old_photo_01.jpg" borderRead More...
